Cone Beam CT Scan

While typical two-dimensional (2D) dental x-rays, such as intra-oral and panoramic, provide dentists with meaningful information for the diagnosis of dental diseases, including dental cavities and periodontitis, there are limitations.  The three-dimensional nature of cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) provides Dr. Silverstein enhanced diagnostic information and increased accuracy compared to 2D imaging.

The use of advanced imaging for dental implants and advanced periodontal cases not only assists in the planning but also facilitates patient safety and interdisciplinary communication.  This technology allows Dr. Silverstein to perform “virtual surgery” in a digital environment by being able to identify hard and soft tissue, nerve paths, and consider prosthetic options.  In some cases, the exact planning of implant placement is performed using a computer generated surgical guided.

What does CBCT mean to you as a patient?
